I have always had a huge affinity for unique ceiling details. There are a ton of ways to create different ceilings, it's endless, just let your imagination soar. Below are several from the homes I built.
A coffered ceiling in a Great Room.
Although it may be difficult to see from this picture, there is bead boarding on this cathedral ceiling.
I love wood beams in a kitchen.
This is a birch paneled office space with a coffered ceiling.
This is a Master Closet. It also had remote controlled blinds, two chandeliers, two center islands and hardwood floors.
A Keeping Room with woods beams in the ceiling.
A barrel ceiling in a large Foyer.
A Master Sitting Room with a wet bar with a wine refrigerator, and it has its own deck with French doors.

This is a plastered ceiling. But you could do a similar treatment with wall paper.
