Beginning to Decorate the Bedroom for Christmas

Do you decorate your bedroom for Christmas?

I have just started doing some decorating and thought I would show you one of my side tables in our bedroom with some holiday cheer upon it. I like reading Christmas novels during the holidays, do you?
I knew I would find multiple uses for my sugar mold and these ornaments fit nicely inside.

I am decorating the bedroom in gold this year. Out in the other spaces I will be decorating with silver mostly. Oh, see the ballerina in the reflection, I will have to show you her sometime.

I adore angels. The other day I was remembering when I was a child I liked to dust, not so much anymore, but the reason I enjoyed dusting was all the curves that my hands would follow, it felt like a journey of some sort.

This angel has lots of curves and movement. I hope somewhere there is an angel watching over me.

In the reflection of the mirror you can see the details of her wings.

What Christmas novels are your favorites? Do you read them over and over again? Do you prefer the classics?  I just bought these three yesterday and have yet to start them. One is "Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham, which was made into a movie, which I have seen but I am still looking forward to reading the book. "This Year It Will Be Different" is by Maeve Binchy which contains 15 short stories, and the third one is "The Christmas Shoes" by Donna VanLiere, and she is a new author for me. I am on Goodreads and would love to have you follow along with me if you like, just go here.

I was very excited when Jemma from At Home With Jemma invited me to participate in a blog tour for the holidays. The "Tis The Season Blog Tour," is coming up soon so mark your calendars and come and see holiday homes, decor, recipes and so much holiday inspiration.

  5. Hello Patty, it's so nice to meet you! Thank you for following me and I have now followed you! The golds in your bedroom are lovely and the ornaments in the sugar mold. Ornaments are just too beautiful to limit only to the Christmas tree! They look lovely near your angel, and a grand one she is!

I have read Skipping Christmas and enjoyed it. Was disappointed in the movie but then the book is nearly always better than the movie, isn't it? I also have This Year Will Be Different and get it out each December to read her short stories. Have you read Jan Karon's Christmas novel of the Mitford series? It seems like the name is Shepherds Abiding. Lovely book. I collected Christmas books for decades and have since passed many on to our kids when they got married, but I kept a stack for myself to enjoy each year.

I just went back and read your post in 2012 where you wrote about your love of building houses. That is obvious from the way you write about it. My son-in-law builds beautiful houses on Amelia Island and I see that same love in him for what he does.

I am so excited about being a part of the Tis the Season blog tour! It will be my first time for doing this kind of thing. I've emailed back and forth with Jemma yesterday and just tried to go to her blog, unsuccessfully. For some reason nothing appears, even when I click on the link to her in your post above. I'll keep trying.

Looking forward to getting to know those in the tour who are new to me,
    Dewena

  6. Hi Patty,

Ornaments always add a perfect glow to every room, with little pops of colour or sparkle, and your careful placement in your bedroom, complement the space and its decor so beautifully. Wonderful ambience!
