Shabby Chic Porch - One Room Challenge - Final Reveal - Week Six

Hello everyone! Welcome to the final reveal of my One Room Challenge Space. Six weeks ago Linda from the blog Calling It Home hosted a six week challenge to make over one room, any room we wanted, and I accepted the challenge and chose my porch, which desperately needed some serious help. So here we are six weeks after I began this challenge and although there is always more I would like to do, today is the day that we show our finished rooms. I wanted a space that was a little shabby chic and I wanted it to be a space that was more like a room than a porch and I think I have achieved that. I am happy with my new porch. So without further ado, let me show you my new and improved porch.

Here is the opposite side with the original cafe table and chairs. I wanted light colors out here and I am loving the peaceful turquoise and white color scheme.

We painted the headboard bench that my husband built a nice clean white color. Go here to see the original headboard that had been tossed away and in need of some help.  I placed a twin size quilt on the seat which is a Simply Shabby Chic quilt by Rachel Ashwell, that I purchased at Target. I absolutely love the subdued colors of this quilt.

I actually made this pillow from an old crochet tablecloth I bought at an antique store in Plano Texas. You can see how I constructed it by going here. There was no sewing and no crocheting involved.

 I found these rosettes at a flea market and simply attached them to the center of the pillow

At the ends of the pillow I tied the material together with some yarn.

My husband made this mirror years ago. You can see some of the other mirrors he has made by going here.

The mirror has a distressed finish and I love the scalloped edge, the applique and the beading down the sides.

I love seeing what it is reflected in the mirror, any mirror.

I have had this vintage iron candle holder for years,it is actually one of a pair.

I think the wicker chair came out beautifully. I can't believe someone discarded it. When we found the chair it was red and had a pitiful worn seat. You can see the original pictures of before the redo by going here.

I made the burlap wreath a month or so ago. If you want to see how I made it then go here. It is simple and anyone can make one of their own.

This small round table was black. We painted the table white and I placed a cream colored pashmina on top of it.  Am I the only one who uses my clothing to decorate their interiors?

 The hand painted wine glasses are a present for my birthday many years ago from my son.

The wine is all gone now..... The little decorative plate you see in front of the wine glasses was a gift from the Sneak Peek that I went to at the Dallas Market, which you read part one, part two, and part three.

My husband made the cocktail table out of leftover wood from the headboard bench and we painted it turquoise blue.

On a trip to First Monday Trade Days in Canton Texas I found this dough bowl and I placed some pinecones and two candles inside. I got some other goodies in Canton and you can see them here. If you have never been to Canton I do encourage you to go.

The original cafe table and two chairs were black. We painted all three pieces turquoise blue. The turquoise blue lightens everything up on the porch and makes it actually feel lighter.

I think I will be spending plenty of time at this table.  With the hanging ferns it is very enclosed and semi-private.

I adore my cherub concrete planters. They were a gift from my husband many years ago.

 I placed some decorative balls in both of them.

The rug was a gift from a neighbor who no longer had a need for it.Thank you neighbor!

So just a quick peek at what we started with. I think this porch has come a long way baby! Yes, I would say it is an improvement.

Have I left anything out? I don't think so. Is there still more I would like to do? You bet there is! But I am content for the moment. It has been such an enjoyable six weeks.
