Christmas Home Tour

Hello! I am so glad you have stopped by for day three of the, "Tis The Season Blog Tour!"

Come on in.  I do hope you enjoy my little tour.

The list and dates for the other homes are at the bottom of this post.

Let's begin at my desk where I start each day. My sister Mary gave me this ornament for Christmas after our mom passed away January 14, 2011. I love the saying because it is so true, she truly is always in my heart. I promise you this is not a sad Christmas post. Isn't the ornament lovely! My concrete angel holds it safely in her hands.
Also on my desk are a couple of items that keep me in the holiday spirit. A simple wintry scene in a gold oval frame and some red candle holders with gold sparkly ornaments to top them off.

Our tv sits on top of a buffet in our living room. My sister Katie made the wooden Santa and reindeer, and it is a most treasured item that we get to enjoy each year.
The reindeer seem so joyful.

I like the way the clear lights make everything seem so festive and a Christmas throw for cold nights.
On the cocktail table I created a simple greenery arrangement in my dough bowl.
I have a 4' tree that is on a side table which I decorated in white and silver.
The white ornament is of my father-in-law who went to be with God on December the 2nd of 2011. My friend Lisa Sayre who was 50 years old also went to Heaven on August the 9th of 2011. 2011 was a very good year in Heaven but it was a hell of a year here on earth. My mom always said things happen in three's.

This is an ornament that is suppose to resemble my little Malti-poo Priscilla.  Priscilla doesn't think much of the ornament, of course is isn't edible, it doesn't even squeak, it just sits there. I think it is adorable and it does remind me of her, a bit.
What do you think? Any likeness?

In the guest bedroom I have just a couple of holiday items. The ceramic Christmas tree was made by my husbands Aunt May. You don't see these much anymore.

Back in the foyer, I have arranged two winter wonderlands of white, silver and crystal.

The second winter wonderland is on top of the wine cabinet. I did share more of this arrangement in a previous post which you can read here.

I have a raised bar counter in the kitchen and I decorated it with several silver pieces and placed silver and white ornaments on them.

On the dining room table I have a large pewter bowl which I filled with greenery, silver ornaments, pine cones and candles.

In the dining room is a sofa table with yet another winter white vignette.

The last room is our bedroom. I did two previous post on the bedroom which you can see part one here and part two here. Our bedroom already feels a bit in the holiday spirit without adding much Christmas decor with all the colors in the pillows, and gold accents on the frames of the mirrors and the lamps. So I just added a bit of Christmas on the side tables and the lingerie chest.

One final ornament I simply must share since my sister Ebba gave it to me and it always makes me laugh. My mother had an incredible sense of humor, and I guess we girls got a bit of it also, although some of us more than others. It's a sock monkey! Sometime after my mom died my sister Ebba spotted an adult woman in Florida sitting outside at a restaurant eating her lunch in 90 degree weather wearing a winter sock monkey hat, and she got the giggles. Did you ever get the giggles as a little girl, do you get giggles now as a grown woman? I hope you do! Well after that we all seem to spot people wearing sock monkey hats and of course.... we get the giggles. So now the sock monkey always reminds me to laugh and to find the humor in everyday things.

I hope you have enjoyed stopping by and seeing my holiday decorations, and I hope you come back. Feel free to follow along with me by following my blog - the easiest way is to subscribe by email. 2. First of all, I must mention adorable Priscilla! What a darling name for her. She is a pretty little thing! I'm sure she followed you around as you added all these beautiful Christmas touches to your home. I first met you during your post about adding the golds to your bedroom and yes, it already has a Christmas feel with the elegant golds and whites. That amazing bas-relief--is that what it's called?--of the cherubs over your bed sets the tone for the beautiful room. And all of the silver and white Christmas decor through your house carries the theme throughout. So many pretty objects to look at! But then the added cheerful homey family memories are there too, with the ceramic tree (an aunt made one for me and each of our 4 children!), Santa and his sleigh, and of course the Sock Monkey do remind us that we all are children at Christmas, as the song says.

It was a joy to see your home at Christmas, Patty, and to be a tour mate for the Tis the Season blog tour!
Merry Christmas to you and your family,
    Dewena

  3. Oh Patty! I have a pewter teardrop ornament in remembrance of my mom which one of my sisters gifted to each of us the year after she passed away - very similar to yours! Bittersweet every time I unwrap it. Your home looks lovely.

  6. Patty,
Thank you for sharing the stories of your family and your fun and beautiful memories of them. I love the way you have incorporated your Christmas mementos into your Holiday decor and the symbolism that they represent-including adorable Priscilla! I can see she would be a bit miffed about the ornament that provides her absolutely no entertainment! I see your dough bowl from Canton:)
    looks positively beautiful.
Your home is beautiful and welcoming, thank you for sharing your inspiration with Tis The Season!

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

  7. What a beautiful home you have. I love that you use different colors and themes throughout the house. Nothing to uniform. Your tree is beautiful with each special piece. I love photos on the tree.

  8. Hi Patty,

What a beautifully decorated home you have presented for us on Day 3 of our blog tour! I keep going back to study your brilliant touches on the buffet, where I love the candelabra, your sister's festive sleigh, and the bowl of ornaments on the cocktail table, probably since the colours you have in these vignettes speak to me, as I use them all year round in my home. Now, Pricilla is pretty and precious, I'm sure, and she is just the cherry on the cake in this elegant Christmas setting.

Thanks for sharing and hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

  11. Patty,
I love that sweet little girl statue that your ornament hangs from, and the ornament is such a treasure. My mom also passed away in January five years ago. They remain in our hearts though, don't they? Your home is so beautifully decorated, and I really enjoyed browsing through every room. The silver and white section caught my eye, as that was my decorating theme this year too, with splashes of red. I liked your red and green beads with the sweet birds. So many creative ideas here, and thank you for giving us a peek into your home.

  14. oh my.
this is different. how wonderful these tours are. the way people decorate their homes is so interesting. but most especially at christmas.
i see restraint here and a certain formality. and such beauty!
and yet with the formality there is great warmth. and i expect that comes directly from you patty.
it was lovely to see what the different ornaments and vignettes mean to you particularly. i had to laugh too at the sock monkey!!!
who does not have a sock monkey in their past! and to put him out at christmas to remind you and ebba of your beloved mom . . .
    well. that is so special!
and priscilla simply stole the whole show for me! LOLOL. she could have been in EVERY picture!
and . . . yes. soon i will shut up!
but . . . i love the childlike little santa's sleigh and reindeer on top of the more ornate wooden dresser. the contrast . . . perfection!
ok. now i'm through! merry christmas dear patty. thank you for the tour of your home!

  17. Your home looks beautiful and festive. I love how you honor your family members and friend in this post. Very special time of year to do this and I think it helps us cope with them not being physically here with us anymore. I still get the giggles and adore that you keep the sock monkey to help you remember to keep giggling. Merry Christmas and thanks so much for sharing.

  21. Patty, I absolutely loved your tour! Your home is so elegant and classy. You really create some lovely vignettes. I loved hearing about the personal touches...the ornaments of those who have passed, the reindeer and Santa that your sister made, the sock monkey, the ceramic tree (I saw a couple of these in the antique mall last week), and best of all....your adorable little doggie!
